Martin Merz serves as President SAP Sovereign Cloud.
He is a seasoned global leader, member of SAP’s Senior Executive Team and SAP Shareholder Representative for SAP NS2. Since October 2024, he heads the new Sovereign Services & Delivery (SS&D) organization, leading a global team of experts in cloud delivery, strategy, and regulatory compliance, consolidating SAP's global expertise to drive digital transformation for governments and highly regulated markets. Martin and his SS&D team are committed to delivering secure and innovative technology solutions tailored to the unique needs of public sector and regulated industries customers.
With a career at SAP spanning over a decade, Martin is renowned for his security expertise, strategic vision and operational excellence. In previous leadership roles, he has led SAP’s Government Security organization, ensuring compliance with national security regulations worldwide, and earlier coordinated all contributing units to secure SAP’s risk position.
Before joining SAP, Martin served in senior leadership positions in the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) and its allies.
Martin holds a diploma in Social Sciences & Political Science from Bundeswehr University Munich and has a study background in Business Administration as well as in Risk Management & Corporate Security.
