Coenraad is one of the founders of CarbonPool, the world’s first regulated insurance and reinsurance company ensuring net zero risks (accidental and excess emissions, shortfalls and under-delivery of carbon removals, and permanence of carbon credits) with indemnification in certified carbon dioxide removals, thus making its clients immediately good on their insured net zero commitments.
With a PhD in Economics from Brown University, Coenraad started his career at the consultancy McKinsey, where he was a partner leading work to support multiple insurance companies throughout Europe. He then led the Financial Markets Advisory team for EMEA at BlackRock, amongst others leading the support for the ECB and IMF in assessing the financial sector bailout requirements in Ireland and Greece. Prior to CarbonPool, he was at Allianz, where he was a member of Allianz’ Group Underwriting Committee and was operationally responsible as CEO of Allianz’ businesses across Africa.
He has also served on the Boards of the International Baccalaureate, the African Reinsurance Corporation and the mobile microinsurer BIMA, as well as multiple Allianz insurance subsidiaries.
